Race Day Oct. 28, 2007

Here we are coming into the Atlanta Speedway. There was camping and parking on both sides going on forever. There are some serious race fans out there.

Front of the Atlanta Speedway. We were parked almost as far to the right of this photo as you can get and our seats were all the way past this building to the left as far as you could get. We got a walking work out besides a race.

Here is a view from our seats at the other side of the track. I wouldn't want to be any of those people camping in the infield because you can only see the part of the track that is right in front of you. Plus the noise...how would anyone sleep. We know from going to the race and camping at Watkins Glen that those drivers start very early in the morning.

Here we are at the Atlanta Speedway. We had awesome seats courtesy of our girls and Dan. They got these tickets for Jay for his birthday back in July. We had beautiful weather and just the right amount of a breeze to keep things comfortable.

Dale Jarrett is the third car, he is on the left and right behind the yellow car. He started out in third place but ended up in 20th when the race ended.

There is our guy, Dale Jarrett, number 44 with Dale Earnhart Jr. right behind him in number 8. Jay has been a tried and true Dale Jarrett fan for as long as I can remember. I imagine soon he will be retiring in a few years and we are going to have to look at these young buckaroos and decide who we want to root for. There are some really good drivers out there among the youngsters.

Here is the first turn by us. We were lucky to have two turns by our seats and from our seats you could see the whole track.

This is the second turn by out seats. We sat in the Elliot section. There were are no bad seats here at the Atlanta Speedway.

Here they are starting their first lap.

Jimmie Johnson was the winner. It was a 500 mile race and they did 325 laps. We saw a few accidents (that is part of the racing) but no one was seriously hurt. While I went to get food one of the cars ran against the wall by our second turn and left a rather large black mark. We left when there were about 25 laps to go to get a head start out of there and apparently there was quite a wreck that we missed.
Hope you all had a good Sunday, we had a really great time doing something different then work and more work.
