I thought I was free

Sunday Betsy and I decided to venture to Kohl's, we were almost to the exit (we could see it) and there forging along the highway in the grass was a dog. It was so skinny that passing by I could see its ribs.

I thought should I stop...what should I do...

Well by that time we were at the exit and so I got off, got back on and headed 6 miles up the road before I could get back on the ramp to get on the highway again and drive another 6 miles to try to find the pup.

We saw her and I pulled over, got the treats that I have for my pups out of the glove box but by the time I got out of the car, Betsy said she scampered up into the woods. I called hoping she would come down with the treats in my hand but she didn't and being black it was hard to be able to see if she was watching us or just ran away. So after a bit, I laid the treats on the ground with mixed feelings of wanting her to get something to eat and not wanting her near the highway.

We sat in the car for awhile but Betsy pointed out that if she scooted that fast when we pulled off the highway there would probably be no way we could get her. Apparently she has been on her own for sometime if she was skinny enough to see her ribs. My heart was breaking.

We left but obviously I am still thinking about her.

Anyhow, the reason for the picture below; I felt my toe hurting and wondered what had bit me when I was trying to get the pup and woke up this morning to find...

Yup...I got bit AGAIN by fire ants and they seem to like my left toes.

Here I thought this would be the first year that I haven't gotten bitten, no such luck.

This was early morning.

Here we are about 3 hours later after trying to get the ick out of it. GROSS!

So how was your Sunday?

Sorry you weren't able to catch that dog Mom. Is that a bruise on your foot from the fire ants or is that the shadow from the camera?
