Cake Art Store in Atlanta
Saw this place mentioned on Bakerella's blog here and they do have some wonderful items, especially if you are a "serious" baker, but I have to say I was disappointed...
Since that burst my bubble, I then thought that there would be tons of spectacular things in there, things I have never heard of... well there weren't things I never heard of but stuff I wasn't sure what to use it for, such as, what is the difference between "gum paste" and "fondant?" Anyone?
Most of the things you could probably get at Michaels or at any party store but I think the last few isles were for the SERIOUS cake and candy maker... yes... that is where ALL the tools of the trade were hidden and since I don't have a clue about gum paste or fondant, I guess I am not as serious of a baker as I thought I was.
I did not leave empty handed though.... I did get some buttercream filling for chocolate drop candy, candy boxes, a candy marker,. (2) candy molds and some sprinkles in pale green and red for Christmas cut out cookies because last year Mabry and I had to use blue and red, gamma forgot to pick up green. Duh...
If you are around Exit 99 (Jimmy Carter Blvd) you might want to make the little jaunt (about 4 miles down the road) and go see for yourselves. I am glad we went and now we know. If I am down that way in the future I just might stop in again.
Oh... they also have classes. Some are just demonstration type classes and some you participate in. I am thinking that since I need to find out about gum paste and fondant that maybe I should go to one of these. Here is their website: http://www.cakeart.com/store/default.asp

Looks like fun!!!!! I would love to have a store like that near here. I end up ordering quite a bit online.
I am no help, I just learned the word fondant the other day watching "The Cake Boss." :0)
Glad I read this tonight....me and daughter were going to go there this weekend after seeing even more pics on Bakerella's blog...her pictures make it look like a warehouse store...I may have to re-think the drive all the way over there....
