This is our window in the breakfast area...why am I showing you this...

Because this shelf was over the window...didn't work with my window treatments but yet some how I wanted to reuse it. Painted it the same color as the wall so it would blend in and the display that was on the shelf would be the focal point. Honestly it really looks proportioned on that large wall but for some reason my photography skills (lack there of) do not make it appear that way (the plate could probably be a larger one, but it is one I had).
Anyone?

I love it Cheri! I especially like how you painted it to blend right in with the wall. I think we are kind of snowed in up here. YIKES!!

The shelf looks really good on that wall!
What about some greenery on one end? I also love the look of layered frames. Maybe one tall verticle frame and then one smaller horizontal one resting on the verticle frame. I did that on top of an armoir. I picked up some nice sized frames at goodwill then spray painted them black.
I like how you painted it to match the wall too - nice. What to put on it - a plant or candle? Not sure.

Thanks for stopping by our blog! I think it looks so good, what a great blog you have, I like ones like yours that I feel inspired by. I think a tall candle might look good...and smell nice. :)

I think it looks great! What ab adding some candlesticks to it, or layering a mirror against the wall with some old photographs, or a hand painted sign? I love this project! I invite you to link up to Thrifty Thursday this week!
It was so wonderful to meet you on Saturday! My pleasure!
Cute! I like it how it is, personally!
Hey there!! It was so great to meet you on Saturday. I've added your blog to my blogroll! :)
I recognize that plate. Pier One, circa 2004, right? I registered for it when I got married, and I'm still using that dinnerware today. Love it!
I think you need something tall and substantial in the center of the shelf, like a clock or a painting or some kind of decorative plaque.
Here is a photo of a shelf in my dining room for an idea(and you can see my plates in my china cabinet!)
