This is a small creek on the side of our house that is actually in the easement (didn't know that). Cute huh? Nice place to sit and relax.

This is the front corner of our front yard and the house across the street that obviously gets a ton of water in their yard and decides to escape over to visit me via the street. I have to add that the water in our street completely covered the tires of the mail ladies truck. Don't think I'll be running any errands today.

Here is that sweet little creek 90 minutes later and I'm thinking maybe this isn't such a good place to sit and relax.
AND here is that same creek about 20 minutes after the above picture was taken. Yup, now I'm sure this isn't where I want to sit and relax. Pretty sure I could do the doggie paddle about now. Where are my flowers!?!?!
On this side of our house we have french doors that lead into our basement and about 6 times I went down there just to make sure water wasn't coming in and if it was....well....you people have seen all the stuff my hubby has....
Each man/woman for themselves...sorry honey.

This is another shot of picture #2 (our front yard, the street and the neighbors' yard across the street). Their backyard/side yard completely was submerged.
We ended up in that easement of having a HUGE hole that the city had to take care of.
Those city guys are my heroes.

They came and put those orange cones around the HUGE hole so no one would get hurt and then came back the following day to start filling in. Got a huge down pour that didn't last too long but the yard was so squishy that they wanted the gravel to settle before topsoil and seeding.
Are they on top of it or what.

Look at that HUGE pile of gravel... now you can get an idea how HUGE that hole was. Did I tell ya it was HUGE?

But...
At least we didn't have problems like these poor folks in New Jersey and some other northeastern states.

So, is what they did going to keep the water out of your basement? I hope it's helping the drainage. The sun was shining here when I got up an hour ago but its gone now. Hope all's well with you guys.

Wow - that's quite a flood!!! I'm glad it didn't come in the house.
Gee I hope that it gets fixed and you will have no further issues. That had to be scary.
