Dilemma #3... I need a gardener for this one

I am probably a landscaper/gardeners worst nightmare. I dig a hole (usually not deep enough) stick in the plant (and the name better be something I can pronounce like Iris), throw some water on it and then it is on its own.

Mother Nature shakes her head in disbelief... but onward to my problem and it is another wee one... at the bottom of the stairs to our back deck we have some strawberry plants... aren't they so cute?

Well as you can see here...they are growing over the landscape stone walkway, do I leave them alone, cut them back...what? And is there anyway to contain them for next year?

OK...that was a twofer dilemma but hey... I gave you a break yesterday with the cutest dog bowls ever.

Well I'm no gardener, but I do know that strawberries phase out. They only grow for a few years. Or at least all the ones I've ever been around. I have to say I'm jealous you have them! I even bought one of those hanging pots so I could have strawberries whenever I want. (Yes, Cora it is. That was literally the consensus whenever I asked people.)

Hmm, maybe I should read the whole dilemma before responding! Containing them is a good idea, I would say, since it's not like you're crop growing and if you don't contain them, they'll spread.

I think they spread too. Sandie

Here in Oregon they are replacing all ivy with strawberry ground cover. Some actually don't have berries, but nonetheless they are a great ground cover and they are pretty hardy. You should be able to trim them back. Best time to do that is March ish. Right now is not a good time to cut them back because you will loose some fruit, but pretty sure you won't kill them.
I personally would just keep them trimmed if you like them in that area.
I like to garden, but I am by no means an expert.
