III Forks Rest. in Dallas

We ate at a lovely and in my estimation "expensive" restaurant; now not so expensive that the prices were not in the menu (special were not) but expensive enough. Then to top off everything, we pulled in and there was valet parking (if you wanted) with EXPENSIVE cars parked in front and here I am in a T-shirt, shorts and sandals (at least hubby was in clean jeans and a polo shirt). When we came up to the front door it said, "Proper attire"...did that mean they would tell me I was not welcome???

Immediately upon entering I felt uncomfortable...the men (most of them) were in suits, some in khakis and polo shirts and the women wore dresses or skirts. Up went the uncomfortable factor. They did not kick us out...they welcomed us and proceeded to seat us.

When feeling like I don't fit in...I either want to do something embarrassing or keep quiet...good thing for hubby I kept quiet, but I am quite sure he would have broke out laughing if I broke out in song (kidding), but we did comment to each other about bodily noises and Redneck Billionaires and using the proper utensils.

With all that being said...the staff was super...they treated us no different then if we came in in suits and dresses.

Our dining room...look at those chandeliers...awesome

We not only had one waiter but one who sat us and took our drink order, one who took our order, one who brought our food, one who kept the drinks flowing...there were just so many and they even had these little scraper doodads that they used several times to clean the crumbs off the table cloths...I want one.

Our meal (and I am not one who usually gives exact dollar amounts) was $129.00 and we DID NOT have any alcoholic drinks, only water. They said a "special" was a 6oz. filet and 6 oz. lobster tail and that sounded so good that Jay said, "go ahead...get it if that's what you want,"... I did...my meal was twice the cost of hubby's (we were trying to guess what it would have cost) and it melted like butter in my mouth. I have NEVER in all my 50+ years had a meal so EXPENSIVE. Now I wished I would have dressed the part and felt FABULOUS instead of like a geek.

I would HIGHLY recommend going there and they have restaurants in other cities too, not just Dallas. It was a wonderful experience but remember that I warned you on how to dress and cost.

Looks like a fairy tale palace - so lovely! And your meal sounded good. I know EXACTLY hoe you felt with the uncomfortable factor. Sandie

Excited to see photos and read your delicious review. They just opened one here in the windy city within walking distance so at some point we will need to try it out for dinner. They will take your cash no matter what you are wearing:-). Have a good weekend.
