Two 60 year olds working like they are 30.

But they say 60 is the new 40 so we'll go with it but my back and hubby's knees didn't get that memo.

We have these holly bushes that are pure ugly and scraggly. They did give us privacy but hey...I live where we don't have major traffic flow so all is good. We started off taking down ones by our parking area with the chain saw to see if we even liked the amount of exposure... Hell yes. So it didn't take much for us to say, "let her rip," but this time we got smart and used chains and our truck to get them out by the roots.

Broke in my new Sloggers (rain shoes) to start the work.

Those bushes you see all in a row towards the right, they had the scraggly bushes behind them and we pulled them out before I got my camera.

Here is a good picture of these bushes that we pulled.

This truck has been the best purchase. She is 14 years old with over 200,000 miles. She worked hard that day. Hubby chained the bottom of the shrubs and I had the fun job of driving the truck. Those bushes are heavy (once they were out) when you are hauling them over to our temporary pile plus you have to watch out that some of the branches have thorns.

The new and improved view. You couldn't see much of the front of the house with "those" shrubs before.

Looking towards the road from our back deck. The scraggly bushes you see behind the lower ones might be going to. They do give us privacy from our next door neighbor plus we don't know if they are ours or theirs, so until we find that out, they will remain.

On another note. This is our first Iris since we moved here 5 years ago. For probably the past 25 years (when my mother in-law shared some of her Iris plants with us) I have dug some up and taken them to each house we have moved to since. I guess this one decided to bloom hoping that maybe...just maybe we are here to stay.
