A little more painting

I am getting off track here for a minute...

See these loverly sconces....

Well I saw some similar I believe at Pottery Barn, something like the picture below and they had them above a bed (light bulb moment) and I really really liked that idea but didn't want to pay PB prices... hmmmm....

So over Christmas, this gal here (no, not Mabry), found the sconces in the first picture (and that is over our bed) over at Hobby Lobby.... SCORE! They look FABULOUS and the price was spot on.

OK...now back to painting.... since I couldn't get the lid off the large 5 gal. container of paint to start the hall, I opted to paint the guest bathroom. Can ya see by the open door the difference in what was on the wall originally and what I am painting it? No?

Well how about now? As I said in an earlier post, I am not a photographer and the paint color is a pale yellow. Actually in the can when I opened the lid it almost looked white but I knew that it would dry darker and darker it did.

Here we are after one coat... yes, girls, I am doing two coats. How do you like my stars? I saw this here but couldn't find exactly where she got those stars but I am happy with the ones I have. Bloggers are so helpful with their ideas. There is a mish mash of metals in our bathrooms and I am possibly going to paint them but do not think I will go with shiny silver like the faucet, towel, toilet paper holder and shower door (handles on vanity are an antique looking gold which will probably also get painted) but thought maybe a nickel finish, what is the consensus there in blog land? Please leave in comments.

Tomorrow.... painting the second coat and hanging the pretty paisley shower curtain.

Next week the "photographer" daughter and I will be doing more painting and she has an awesome camera so I hope to have better pictures for you.

I am going to end by doing a little promoting for daughter: You can go here to check out some of Jessica's photos. Her blog is wrongweek.blogspot.com and you can get in touch with her there if you need some photography work done.

Hey Cheri!

The business I am starting is basically making signs. I am taking old pieces of wood and recycling them to make personal signs for people's home. I have been working with my friend on building another blog, so it's taking a little longer than expected! I was waiting to mention it on my blog again once we had it up and running!! Thank you for asking!

Love those candle sconces over the bed! I saw those at HL the other day and was tempted to buy them. I always wait until they are half off though. I know so many people painting lately. I just finished painting my hall and living room. I had so many finger prints and smudge marks to paint over. Your new house is looking great! Keep up the good work.
