On the Wings of....

Ok for all you Bachelor fans (or those that are sick of "that" song) I won't finish that title, but Saturday we went to Tuscaloosa to see the air show and fantastic it was. Until you see it, you have no idea the precision it takes for air combat. It was utterly amazing to watch these men and women who make up the Golden Knights, the Sky Soldiers and the Blue Angels. We salute you.

Here is the airplane that takes up the parachuting team known as The Golden Knights. It isn't a matter of just jumping out of a plane and landing safely. There is timing which is essential so you don't run into each other, maneuvering your parachute to land on your spot and then there is the wind to contend with and there was plenty of wind that day.

Here we have the Sky Soldiers also known as the Cobras. Can you imagine being that close to one another and not have the blades hit each other. I have sweaty palms just watching this.

These next two pictures are the Blue Angels. Look at that "tight" fit. We were told there was 18" from one jets wing to the next one. I went from sweaty palms to holding my breath not realizing I wasn't breathing until they split formation. I can't even imagine how you would train to do something like this. Let's face it, you make a mistake and it isn't going to be good.

The did passes, combat moves it was AMAZING! There were two other jets that did other moves, flying upside down (I think my life flashed before me), rolls and on and on they went. You have to be a special kind of person to do all that.

My hat is off to all the men and women who serve our country. Thank you is never enough for you and your families that put everything on the line in every capacity of the armed forces to ensure all the freedoms that we are so lucky to have. God Bless America...God Bless the Armed Forces.

I can only imagine how awesome that was to see in person. I need to take Ali to one of those sometime - she'd love it!
