How I spent my Thanksgiving

The day started out with me cleaning the house before the girls start coming next week. I know...I know... where's the turkey dinner...
well... neighbor's asked us to go to her sister's a few weeks back but then we didn't hear from them... we did have a turkey sandwich though at lunch time

Earlier in the week hubby had put drywall compound on these concrete walls in this short hallway that goes from our finished basement into the boat garage (no, we don't own a boat but these garages are popular in new houses here in Georgia) to add some texture because the concrete blocks are so pitted. So we tried rag rolling it and didn't think it looked too bad. We didn't want to do the larger of the two walls until we saw if we liked it. I will be finishing this up on Black Friday instead of shopping. Yes, I slept in instead of getting up at 3:00 AM... I don't do that.

A few days ago I saw this dog and thought that maybe it was the neighbors. They don't have dogs but seem to babysit their kids dogs every so often and so I thought that this is where she belonged. Now fast forward to Thanksgiving... I saw here again hanging around their house and wondered "why" they weren't letting her in their fenced yard when I saw them out there with the other dogs???? As I proceeded to watch her she lolly gagged up the street after some kids on skate boards and I decided that she must be a stray. So while hubby was outside burning leaves, I got a bowl with dog food in it ( I am armed and ready). I walked up the road and didn't see her, as I started back towards home...

There she was.
I called.
She came and I enticed her with dog food all the way to our house.

Here she is on our back deck. We could tell looking at her that she had had babies but was no longer nursing.
I know this photo isn't too nice but it shows where she must have broken the chain or whatever it was they had around her neck. It was scabbed over so who knows how long she has been loose.
Here is her sweet face. She spent all afternoon and into the early evening outside with hubby and then we put her in our garage for the night. Right now she is outside but we are waiting to call the Humane Society to see where we go from here.
Unfortunately with having two dogs of our own and hubby unemployed it is not possible for us to keep her. She is a very gentle dog and I hope that she will find a good home. Pray for her.
