Louisiana

When I found out that we were going to be in Louisiana I contacted fellow blogger, Susie at Bienvenue to ask her where there would be some good shopping, Susie suggested....

(I love to go into stores that are not chains that you find everywhere.)

Actually I thought we were going to be in a different town then where Susie lived but found out late afternoon of the day before, while on the road, with no access to the internet and email, that I would be where she lives. Unfortunately I was not able to contact Susie and see if we could meet up.

Anyhow, I did go to The Royal Standard and was pleasantly surprised. First the store front made me think it was small but there is room after room in there to explore. The prices weren't bad either and lots of monogram and fleur de lis. I was looking at several (fleur de lis) things and ended up with some napkin rings that I am hoping will look good as curtain tie backs.

While looking up The Royal Standard on line I clicked on the "News and Events" tab and look at what was there...

HGTV Visits The Royal Standard For Designers Challenge

Baton Rouge, LA - The Royal Standard will be featured on HGTV's Designer Challenge show later this year. HGTV visited The Royal Standard to film client Kelly Longwell and her chosen designer. They were in the store shopping for furniture and accessories for Kelly's New Orleans home, which will be on the popular cable show this winter.

The Royal Standard offers a wide variety of antiques, interiors, garden element and gifts. From French armoires to handmade bath products, and from large cast iron fountains to home accessories from around the world, the company's goal is to provide royal furnishings at pauper prices.

I wish they would say what the date will be that this shows; I would love to see what she got and how they decorated.

Thanks Susie for steering me to this store...LOVED IT!

Now in a few days I will be heading to another state and checking out a place to shop that another blogger, Judy, from Gracious Southern Living suggested. Later....
